To raise public awareness about the fire blight, a serious disease causing considerable damage and economic losses in apple and pear, we have designed this animation for the Quebec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ).

The mandate was to produce an explanatory video that would be clear, entertaining and visually interesting and colorful.

The fire blight is a disease is caused by a bacterium, Erwinia amylovora (Burrill), which infects hosts in the Rosaeceae family It can destroy a tree in a season under optimal conditions and in the absence of preventive treatments. Some resistant varieties are available but they are not used commercially yet.
